Back in school, I often heard it said that we have to study history so that we don’t repeat the same mistakes of the past. Now, quite a few years and history books later, I beg to differ with this statement.
I have come to realize that the mere knowledge of historical facts accomplishes very little, unless—that is—we understand the facts in such a real way that we apply them to our specific situation in life.
We have all studied the stories of kings and queens, invasions and wars, tragedies and triumphs, and so on. But what do these events mean to me right here, right now?
This is what Songs of Life is all about: reenacting specific historical events so that they can speak to us today in practical ways.
So, can you think of a historical event that speaks directly to you and your situation?
